And I’m Back!

I haven’t posted here for a while, although that doesn’t mean I haven’t been out there finding joy 🙂

Last night, for example, a friend and I went to a Paint Nite, an event where a group of people spend a couple of hours painting, guided by an artist. We all work on the same picture although we have our own canvases. It was a lot of fun.

I used to paint with watercolours but I’ve never tried other media. We worked with acrylics which, to my delight, are far more forgiving and easy to work with than watercolours!

And here’s my “masterpiece”.

What matters to me most is that we had fun – no pressure and lots of laughter. Definitely a night to remember!

Joy is…

One my my many joys is driving my Mini. I smile every time I see it. It makes me feel happy inside. Plus it’s so much fun to drive (especially on roundabouts)!

Another joy is having matching black and white accessories 😉

Play Time

Shhhh! Don’t tell anyone. I’ve been playing around with markers again. 🙂

Yes, I know I “should” be working. But all work and no play makes for a dull life, doesn’t it?

Here’s the latest result of my joy-filled, playful pastime.

What do you see?

Perspective

When you look at the photo, what do you see?

A page that is empty?

Or a page that is FULL … of endless possibilities?

One hand, one pen, one imagination = endless possibilities!

Rekindling the Passion

This week, just for the fun of it, I started doodling again. Adding a little more detail every day.

No plan.

Just play.

Because it slows me down, opens up my mind, and sparks my creative thinking.

Sometimes when my thoughts become muddled, or my feet lose their way, relaxing into non-thinking is exactly what I need.

How do you keep your passion alive? What do you do to reignite the spark?

Leave a comment. I’d love to know!

Meeting The Challenge!

My escherly capri leggings are making their mark! The co-hosts for the #EHyogachallenge2 are wearing them during the month-long event that ends on July 1. The yoga challenge features new poses each day to highlight different Canadian cities and provinces/terriories, along with fascinating historical and cultural tidbits.

One of the co-hosts (@duchess_of_plur) is shown below in the Free Thinker pose for Frederiction, New Brunswick.

To join in, follow @duchess_of_plur and @canadianyogagirl on Instagram for all the details.

While I work on some new designs for my escherly shop, I thought I’d share a snapshot of some of my creations to date.

I’m curious to see what the next six months will bring 🙂

What dreams are you working on these days? I’d love to hear.

Finding Inspiration

What inspires you? As an artist and designer, I find inspiration in the world around me – patterns, colours, shapes, textures. Often in nature.

Is this photo simply an image of decaying leaves and a tree on the forest floor? Or does it offer inspiration for a new design?

Beauty, and inspiration, are in the eye of the beholder 🙂

A Fresh Start

I’ve been playing around with my camera lately, taking new photos of my various designs like this one of my birch tree silk scarf.
