A Fresh Start

I’ve been playing around with my camera lately, taking new photos of my various designs like this one of my birch tree silk scarf.

Jumping for Joy

Remember that birch tree drawing that I shared a couple of weeks ago? To my delight, it’s now gracing the cover of an iPad mini!

Colour Me Joyful

I know I posted this design a few weeks ago. Now it’s finished. And it brings me such joy every time I look at it.

Maybe it’s the birch tree? I love the way it seems to move and dance across the page.

Or maybe it’s the cardinal – the splash of red against the black and white background.

Whatever the source, this design embodies joy for me.

Work In Progress

I am a work in progress. So is my life. Every day brings new opportunities to take steps on the journey, not knowing what lies around the next corner.

As I work on this design (also a work in progress!), the following poem by Emily Dickinson comes to mind. Perhaps it’s hope that keeps us ever moving forward.

Work in Progress ~ escherly 2016

“Hope” is the thing with feathers –
That perches in the soul –
And sings the tune without the words –
And never stops – at all –
And sweetest – in the Gale – is heard –
And sore must be the storm –
That could abash the little Bird
That kept so many warm –
I’ve heard it in the chillest land –
And on the strangest Sea –
Yet – never – in Extremity,
It asked a crumb – of me.
