And I’m Back!

I haven’t posted here for a while, although that doesn’t mean I haven’t been out there finding joy ūüôā

Last night, for example, a friend and I went to a Paint Nite, an event where a group of people spend a couple of hours painting, guided by an artist. We all work on the same picture although we have our own canvases. It was a lot of fun.

I used to paint with watercolours but I’ve never tried other media. We worked with acrylics which, to my delight, are far more forgiving and easy to work with than watercolours!

And here’s my “masterpiece”.

What matters to me most is that we had fun – no pressure and lots of laughter. Definitely a night to remember!

Let There Be Light

Sometimes, as William Wordsworth said, “the world is too much with us.” Events in our own lives, and around the world, can weigh heavily on our hearts and minds.

At such times, I close my eyes and surrender…to the feelings of loss, of sadness and disbelief. And as I breathe in, I notice…the feel of the wind on my face, the touch of the sun on my shoulder, and the melodies of birds in the trees.

I recognize that in the midst of sorrow, there is also joy. It may seem more fleeting, hard to capture, and yet, like a butterfly, it hovers around me, at the periphery of my vision, just waiting to be noticed.

And so, I choose…to notice joy; to feel my own aliveness and wellbeing; to celebrate all that is good in the world. In so doing, I honour those in my world who are no longer able to do the same.

Joyful Journey

On the weekend, we participated in the Mini rally organized by MINI Grand River. Such fun!

There were over a hundred Minis of all ages in the event. On the road, there were Minis as far as the eye could see on the straight stretches and curves in front of us and behind us. Between rain storms, convertible tops were down, drivers basking in the sunlight.

Minis are as unique as their owners. Definitely unconventional. From hot pink to turquoise to black and white, with intriguing designs on roof tops, mirror covers, hoods and door panels, each Mini has its own personality, and in some cases, its own name!

I saw a small sticker on the window of one Mini that captured my thoughts for the day…”Life is too short to drive a boring car.”

Indeed!

Oh The Magic!

Spring is my favourite time of year – watching the new growth, seeing changes every day in the trees and gardens, listening to the chorus of birds by day and frogs by night.

It’s as if all of nature is bubbling with joy.

I love this photo I took recently. Such soft colours and delicate shapes. The promise of beauty unfolding.

What do you enjoy most about spring?

Photo Frenzy

Over the weekend, I had the joy and pleasure of being near Lake Ontario. I did a lot of walking, and took photos galore. I’ll share some of my more memorable ones in the weeks to come. For now, here are two¬†that speak to me of spring and new beginnings.
